Children and Young Adult Industry Forum and Writing Workshop

Children and Young Adult Industry Forum and Writing Workshop

Featuring authors and agents from Sierra Nevada College Tahoe’s MFA Program!

Interested in writing for children and young adult audiences? Or becoming a literary agent who specializes in books for young people? Then join us for a special evening of industry insights and creative writing exercises led by authors and agents from SNC Tahoe's new low residency MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults program!

On hand will be industry professionals including writers Pablo Cartaya, author of the forthcoming middle-grade books The Epic Fail of Arturo Zamora and Marcus Vegas Doesn’t Speak Spanish, and Lisa Papademetriou, author of A Tale of Highly Unusual Magic and the New York Times-bestselling Middle School: Big, Fat Liar (with James Patterson), along with literary agent Jess Regel of Foundry Literary + Media.

The evening will begin with a general discussion of the children’s/YA literary space, followed by a workshop session where audience members will break up into groups and work creatively under the guidance of the presenters. You're sure to learn something--and you'll be nourishing your inner child!

*Please bring a pen and paper or notebook for the writing exercises.
