A chronicle of the American environmental movement circa late 1970’s-80’s as seen through the eyes of an innocent but partying young country girl, Ellie, whose narrow worldview cracks one day while accidentally gazing at an eastern bluebird. The more interested she becomes in nature, political causes, maybe attending college--in other words, adventuring beyond her rural Michigan home--the more maligned she feels from her family and friends. Will her relationships survive all the changes Ellie is going through? Will she successfully defend the causes she holds so dear...or is it already too late?
